Destination Wedding in the Mountains

Destination weddings are the talk of the town and increasingly popular with modern brides. But, planning for outdoor elopement is very different to a traditional wedding venue, especially if you’re looking for an adventure in the mountains. With vast lands and panoramic views surrounding your ceremony, you want to find a dress that ties in with the beauty of the outdoors.

Chances are your wedding in the mountains will require you to do some sort of hiking to reach your destination, so your dress should allow you to move freely. Of course, every wedding dress should be well-fitted to flaunt your figure so a fitted bodice to hug your chest and cinch your waist is a must. As for comfortability, ensure that you can walk without any restrictions to limit any chances of a wardrobe malfunction. Loose-fitting skirt styles like sheath and A-line are advised over mermaid styles which are trickier for the mountains.

Eloping in the great outdoors with a mountainous scenery screams all things Boho. If your personal style is more ethereal than traditional, the Boho aesthetic will surely cater to you and your surroundings. Whether it’s the tiniest of embellishment details or going all out with texture and volume for a laidback style, there’s an abundance of silhouettes that can offer a casual, dramatic, or elegant look.

Florals are a staple element in bridal gowns and when incorporated into a loose-fitting silhouette with delicate silks, tulles and lace, a timeless Bohemian look is formed. The softness of the tulle, chiffon and light as air lace will whimsically flow as it catches the wind as you exchange your vows outdoors. A classic A-line with an alluring v-neckline that’s detailed with floral lace throughout embodies the Boho romance for a mountainside bride.

Envision an off-the-shoulder neckline paired with a waist-cinching bodice and a sheath skirt gracefully draping to the ground beneath your feet. Tiers of fringing and tassels on hemlines in contrast against the sheerness of the chiffon skirt overlay. If you don’t fancy these string- like details, silk and chiffon ruffles can add the right amount of texture and depth. This silhouette is extremely flattering and offers an effortless look for a free-spirited bride. For colder mountaintop climates, off-the-shoulder sleeves can offer more warmth and coverage to get you through an intimate ceremony.

Float down the aisle in head-to-toe lace in a floor-grazing gown complete with delicate flutter sleeves. For a soft yet minimalist look, a draped chiffon gown is made for a fashion- forward bride. With an open back, full length blouson sleeves and a floaty skirt, it’s the most feminine Boho twist for an unfussed bride. Subtle colours of champagne, blush and ivory add warmth to the mountainous backdrop if you’re not going for a classic white gown.
