Dressarte X Petite in Paris

Non-traditional wedding outfits have been extremely popular recently, black dresses, separates, transformable wedding outfits.

We couldn’t think of a better person to partner with on designing two non-traditional wedding dresses than our friend Diane (aka @petiteinparis). In case you’re new, click here to read about the engagement dress we designed together.

Tell us about the dresses, what’s the inspiration behind?

Since I’m unable to sketch or come up with designs I really relied on Dressarte to help me with the creative process. I drew inspirations from couture magazines, from old classic movies and timeless pieces I adore. I came to them with many ideas and they helped me filter my ideas and mix and match different tops and bottoms to come up with the designs you see today.

One of the things I adore about these dresses is the movement the dress creates when you are wearing it.

Tell us about a bride you have in mind when creating these dresses?

When I was creating these designs, the bride I had in mind was a more modern bride that’s not afraid to go the non-traditional route. These dresses would be perfect for a destination wedding or even for vow renewal. My vision was to create a dress that is both modern and timeless.

What are the benefits of designing your custom dress?

There are so many benefits when it comes to designing a custom dress. The biggest benefit is that I know the dress will fit perfectly. For me, it’s extremely hard to fit into clothes in general, and dress and couture gowns are almost impossible to fit.

The second reason is when a dress fits perfectly, I’m more confident wearing it. So for me, the 2 biggest benefits I receive when designing a custom gown, is that it will fit perfectly and give me confidence when I wear the dress.

Is it helpful to see dresses in 3D and AR?

One of the most helpful things that Dressarte provides is the 3D and AR view of the dress. This technically allows me to see the dress from every angle and gives me a visual on how it would fit based upon my measurements. With this view, I’m able to make any adjustments and modifications before it goes into production.

How would you style these dresses?

For me these dresses are statement dresses and need minimal styling. For my hair I would definitely wear it up so the dress is the focal point, and really shines. For jewelry I would wear classic yellow gold pieces. Finally for shoes, I would wear classic nude shoes.
